After being one at York St John University and later managing a team of them in Northern England, I know exactly what makes a great Campus Brand Manager.

Proactivity

A great Campus Brand Manager needs to think ahead. Constantly seeking out the next awareness and hire-generating event, you’ll have the proactive mentality to set up everything from specific skills sessions to lecture shout-outs.

A big opportunity that can easily be missed is getting involved in extra events with the Talent Acquisition team. Attending assessment centres or helping with interviews will help you strengthen your ability to do the role well and enhance your personal brand at the same time. All you have to do is ask!

Creativity

To be proactive and deliver an effective message, you need creative flair.

It is important for a Campus Brand Manager to think outside the box when planning new events. First of all, we need to understand what students will respond to best. We must then make sure we’re in front of the right type of students, before tailoring a consistent attraction strategy that suits their needs.

The last step? Execute your plan and deliver your event creatively – students will appreciate the effort you put in. Their engagement will be your deserved reward.

Passion

Ultimately, if you want to be proactive and creative, you need passion. To be a great Campus Brand Manager you must be passionate about the role and messages you are delivering on campus.
