What can you expect from your branch visit interview?

Congratulations! Having successfully made it through three stages of the job interview process you are now only two steps away from securing your position at Enterprise. The next stage is your Branch Visit. This is the time to experience what life at Enterprise Rent-A-Car is really like.

Having been with Enterprise for 18 months, it seems not so long ago that I was visiting a branch for the first time. Now, as a Talent Acquisition Specialist for the North West, I have some advice on how to make the most out of your experience.

Prepare

Although I’ve no doubt you have done plenty of research on Enterprise in order to reach this stage of the interview process, there is no harm in going the extra mile to impress. Maybe give the branch or neighbouring branches a call to see if they have any hints or tips for you. Browse our Twitter and Facebook pages, as well as the rest of the website, and use them as a source of information on not just the company, but your potential fellow employees. Make sure you express your knowledge of what you discovered during the day and be open to learning a lot more too.

What should I expect to gain from the day?

At Enterprise we always say the way to understand something is to experience it yourself. The Branch Visit is a fantastic way to really grasp what a functional day involves. You should expect to gain a thorough insight into our company. Although the application process may seem lengthy, we not only want to fully understand your values, ambitions, aspirations and experiences, we want you to know ours too!

What will I be doing during the day?

You should receive a Branch Visit Checklist prior to your visit, which will help guide you on the day. You should expect to meet the rest of the team, see how we communicate with customers face to face and via telephone, observe the creation of a rental contract, and you may even get the opportunity to go out on one of our customer pick ups. Every day is different at Enterprise!

What is the branch manager looking for?

The Branch Manager’s main objective is to imagine you as one of Enterprise’s Management Trainees! They want to see you not just sitting in the corner observing, but talking to customers and employees, taking an active role and asking plenty of questions.

How do I impress?

Candidates sometimes think asking questions is seen as having a lack of knowledge, but this is not the case! Communication is crucial at Enterprise and asking questions is all part of learning and development. Asking the right kind of questions to expand on your research shows a keen interest in the company. Have some questions prepared for during the day and the end of your interview. However, the easiest way to impress is to take an active role. Introduce yourself to the team and really get involved with the day. This is a great opportunity to show your skills if you sometimes struggle to portray them in a formal interview style. Talk to everyone you meet during the day, from customers to the Area Manager, and get stuck in!

What is involved in the interview?

The interview is your opportunity to sell yourself and your abilities. The main objective of the interviewer is to understand your experiences, skills and your career aspirations. The questions will be based around our core competencies: Customer Service, Sales and Leadership.

Have a structure to your answers – the STAR framework (Situation, Task, Action, Result) works great for this. Draw from a variety of examples, such as university, work experience and personal events, to enhance your answers. Speak clearly and confidently, and be proud of your achievements. Don’t let your lack of communication stop you from progressing. And if you need a few more tips on how to succeed at interviews don’t miss our essential guide on how to be great at interviews.

If you are reading this you have probably already applied for a graduate job or internship at Enterprise, but if not we have plenty of graduate opportunities available at over 450 offices and branches throughout England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
