Lots of promotions, three award wins, one fast-growing team: my career story

Road sign that says success

After graduating from university with a degree in Spanish and French, and starting to explore my careers options, I decided it would be a good idea to get some management experience. That’s when I found out about the Graduate Management Trainee programme.

My initial thoughts were to benefit from the training and development opportunities for around 18 months and then explore any opportunities to work abroad to use my languages. Here I am nine years later!

The idea that Enterprise had grown so significantly in such a short time appealed to me. That coupled with the opportunities that they had in their offices all across Europe meant that I could potentially fulfil my language degree that way.

I progressed to the assessment centre stage and on the day I was really impressed by the attitude of the Enterprise team running the event and wanted to be part of that success. Their ethos really stood out to me throughout the process and I quickly began to realise that if you work hard you will get rewarded. Nine years later I can honestly say that this has really been the case throughout my career at Enterprise and I know it will continue to be.

I joined the management training scheme in Chelmsford, Essex and passed my MQI after 18 months. There were lots of opportunities to work in different areas of the business, and with the support of my Area Manager I transferred to work in the admin office.I surprised myself with how quickly I excelled in my new role in the Non Fault department and loved every single day of my job and the team there. I was promoted to a senior specialist in my area within 12 months.

The opportunity to build a centralised Non Fault department in Aldershot arose two years later and I couldn’t wait to apply. I couldn’t believe it when I got the call to say I had been successful. The relocation package from Enterprise was excellent and they really looked after me. I started there with six employees. The growth we have experienced due to our success in the marketplace meant that the team I was running exploded at the seams to over 20. In the five years I have been here that has trebled and then trebled again. Along with this growth came more responsibility and some great employee development achievements. This is why my hard work was rewarded, with a promotion to Senior Supervisor just two years later.

My career and development prospects have been incredible during my time with Enterprise and there have always been lots of different opportunities for me to get involved.  One of the best things to happen to me recently was to be nominated for six management awards in two years, winning three of them.

My aim in my career is to become what we call a Level Three Manager. My manager is behind me 100% and I hope to achieve this soon. I am lucky enough to have been chosen to have a senior  mentor who is also helping me develop my skills so I am ready for the next step. He is also the Vice President of Sales – Europe, so I am hoping one day he can help develop me enough to pursue part of my career in Spain!

The opportunities for career progression at Enterprise are high and I would recommend you to have a look at the graduate jobs that we have available.
