When you walk out of the exam hall on your final day, there is probably only one thing on your mind: relaxing after an intense bout of revision and exams. This means you haven’t had any time to see people or do anything that didn’t involve books and the library. Here are five great ideas of how to spend that suddenly very empty free time.
1. Join your friends for a celebratory meal
Catching up with your friends over dinner is a classic way to relax, but it can be even more fun to celebrate with friends who have also finished of their exams. Gather some friends and enjoy a night off to celebrate all the hard work you’ve put in over the past few weeks.
2. Road Trip
Sometimes you just want to get out of the university space to clear your head. Going on a post-exam road trip with a few friends can be perfect, and it allows you to discover part of the country you’ve never seen before. It’s definitely worth planning for, because knowing you have something to look forward to when you are spending long days in the library can act as a motivator.
3. Blitz your cleaning
During exam season it’s very easy to let things fall by the wayside when it comes to flat cleanliness and laundry, and whilst you might not notice it at the time, it can be a little depressing to return to once your head is no longer focused on exams. Spending a couple of hours sprucing up your room will not only give you somewhere nice to relax afterwards, but it will be a great use of all that nervous energy you’ve built up through exam season.
4. Treat yourself
It’s nice to give yourself a gift after you’ve finished your exams. It might be a mini-shopping spree or a pamper day with friends. Perhaps it’s finally ordering that video game or book that you’ve resisted for so long to ensure you didn’t have any revision distractions. Spend your time doing something you will enjoy and will allow you to clear your head.
5. Spend time with your family
Exam time can be very tiring, so sometimes the very best thing is to go home and be looked after by family, get your dinners cooked for you and hang out with your family and pets. Home should definitely feel cosy after the exam hall and library.
Exams can really zap you of energy, so it’s important to do something to unwind and refocus once they are out of the way. The other important thing you need to plan for after exam time is getting an internship & placement or graduate management trainee job lined up. Perhaps our great management trainee programme at Enterprise could be the right place for you?
