I began my career with Enterprise Rent-a-Car in November 2009 and, honestly, haven’t looked back. I was attracted by the internal promotion structure at Enterprise and its subsequent investment into employees. I remember thinking, “How many people really rent cars?!” Well, working for the world’s biggest car rental company has certainly given me an insight! Enterprise Rent-A-Car also values the importance of its customers and staff – I believe in this ethos and think that the founding values at Enterprise are a great foundation for a company, clearly a main contributing factor to their success.
The initial application process was challenging and set a standard for the progression route that lay ahead. I am hungry, ambitious and driven by my own goals – if this sounds like you then you too can make it to a management position within 14 months of joining the company! Where else can you achieve that kind of rapid progression? The Management Trainee role is incredibly varied and diverse, giving you a taste of all aspects of our business along the way.
I completed my initial training at the Cardiff city centre branch inside of 9 months. Along the way I was top of numerous sales competitions and I was even lucky enough to go to Valencia with senior management for a short break as a prize for continued sales efforts! I enjoyed daily rental and the interaction I had with customers and corporate clients.
A few months after completing my initial training I was promoted to assistant manager in our Bridgend office. I really enjoyed the responsibilities that came with my new job role and the fact that I was now seeing an overnight increase in pay didn’t hurt either!
By the summer of 2011 I had been promoted to branch manager of Bridgend and had essentially started running my own daily rental operation. 3 years later and I’m branch manager of our Cardiff East office and still enjoying my job immensely! I love the challenges that come with the day-to-day operations of a rental branch and also the job satisfaction that comes with the territory.
My favourite aspect of my current role is the training and development of my staff; seeing their personal success stories and watching them progress through their own training and up the promotional ladder.
I am now looking to take the next step in my own career with Enterprise and with the opening of European operations in Spain and France, exciting opportunities will no doubt follow. Your career goes hand in hand with your own drive and ambition at Enterprise – there are no limits to what you can achieve!
We are constantly growing as a company and there has never been a better time to jump on board and take control of your career, so why not apply now to our wide range of spring and summer internships, as well as graduate jobs.
