Customer Assistance Representative Teresa Parro in Madrid tells us that PRIDE is an opportunity for the world to see that society is diverse and diversity is a positive thing!
Tell us about your career journey at Enterprise
My career at Enterprise started a few years ago. I have worked in various departments and I am currently developing in my role as a Customer Assistance Representative. I have worked in different offices learning from each one of them, from the small or big differences that come from working in a town centre branch to working in a fast-paced location like the one where I am right now, which is Madrid Atocha Train Station.
What has been your experience with colleagues, managers, role models or allies as an LGBTQ+ employee at Enterprise?
My experience as an employee and trans woman, with colleagues, superiors or allies, is completely satisfactory in my day-to-day. Due to the position that I hold, I have the opportunity to work, either directly or indirectly, with a multitude of profiles and I have to admit that I feel fully integrated.
What has surprised or amazed you most about the support Enterprise LBTQ+ colleagues receive?
What surprised me the most was the support I had from the company and more specifically from my direct manager when I officially announced that I was going to carry out my transition process. I only received positive support, both from my managers and my colleagues. The situation was not easy to communicate, but because the environment I work in is LGTBQ+ friendly, nothing bad happened at all.
What does PRIDE month mean to you?
The month of PRIDE, for me, is a very important date in my calendar. PRIDE is not only a party. The really important thing about PRIDE is the opportunity that the entire LGBTQ+ community has to claim our rights: the right that we have to be treated with the same respect that is requested and given to any person. The right to have the same rights as any person, which, depending on the country in which you live, unfortunately, is not always fulfilled.
In other words, PRIDE month is an opportunity to shout to the world that society is diverse, and that diversity is something positive that makes us grow as human beings.
