Enterprise Holdings, representing the Enterprise Rent-A-Car, National Car Rental and Alamo Rent A Car brands, has today become the first global vehicle rental business to commit to the Valuable 500 international disability inclusion pledge.

This global initiative was launched at the World Economic Forum 2019 in Davos. It invites leaders from major global businesses and brands to pledge their commitment to putting disability inclusion on their business leadership agenda.

“At Enterprise Holdings, we put a high value on diversity and strive to create an inclusive environment where everyone can be their best. Signing the Valuable 500 reinforces to our colleagues, customers and business partners that diversity and inclusion is a priority for our business at every level. We are honoured to act as ambassadors and promoters for critical disability diversity issues,” said Shelley Roither, Vice President of Human Resources at Enterprise Holdings.

Inclusion and diversity are business priorities enshrined in Enterprise’s ‘Founding Values’ and ‘Cultural Compass’, which are the basis for the company’s global business strategy as well as individual employee measurement and progression.

UK and Ireland Managing Director Khaled Shahbo signed the pledge for Enterprise worldwide on December 3 at the company’s European headquarters in Egham, UK, which was timed to coincide with the United Nations International Day for Persons with Disabilities.

An event to mark the signing included guest speakers, an employee survey on disability issues and support for PurpleLightUp, an initiative encouraging people to wear purple to recognise colleagues, family and friends with disabilities.

Commenting on the importance of the Valuable 500 to Enterprise, Khaled Shahbo said: “This important initiative helps us as a global business to reflect on the impact that we can have on the wellbeing and success of people living with disabilities, within Enterprise and beyond.”
